Here is an update on what is coming up with swing classes and dancing...


CLASSES

Introduction to Swing I - This 4 class series is the starting point for anyone who would like to learn swing and never danced before.
When: Tuesday evenings 7:30-8:30pm
           First class, Tuesday, January 18th
Where: Idaho Falls School of Ballet building, 410 W. 16th Street, IF 83402
Cost: $32/per person for the four class series

SOCIAL DANCING

New Year's Eve- The only dancing I've been able to find is in Pocatello at the Portneuf Brewery. Mike Bank's Band Swing Shift is playing starting at 8:30pm. 615 South 1st Avenue, Pocatello, ID. Cost: FREE

January 5, Wednesday - Eastern Idaho Jazz Society Jam Session at the Cellar in IF. They are trying a different day of the week. This jam session starts at 7pm. 3520 East 17th Street, Ammon, ID (corner of 17th and Ammon Road)

February 5th, Saturday - SAVE THIS DATE! The Jazz House Big Band and the Skyline High School Jazz Band are playing big band music at the Elks Lodge in IF for their annual fundraiser. There is a large dance floor there and this a great event to go out and dance. Rick and I will be teaching a basic lesson before the music begins. More info to follow.

Wrapping up a full October...

It has been a full October dancing in Idaho. During the weekend of October 13-17th, we had the pleasure of attending the Sun Valley Jazz Festival for the first time. Amazing bands and great dance floors all weekend. We will help to promote this event next October as it is well worth the time to attend.

Also on October 23rd, we taught at a workshop in Rexburg. We had a great time teaching there and at the end of night
he Jazz House Big Band played. Updates to come with the November dancing opportunities in the eastern Idaho area.

Kevin Young Jazz Quartet

Last night we had a great time dancing to the Kevin Young Jazz Quartet at the Zone in Idaho Falls. The band played great music, as always, and this place actually had a dance floor for us to dance on.

It was great to see everyone out last night and hope to do it again soon. Kevin Young is playing next at the Portneuf Brewery in Pocatello on Friday, October 22nd.

Almost October....

Last Friday, we had a great time dancing at the Portneuf Brewery in Pocatello to the band Swing Shift. They will be playing again at the Brewery next month on Friday, October 29th.

CLASSES STARTING!
Rick and I are teaching Intro to Swing II starting next Wednesday, October 6th. Every Wednesday in October 7-8pm. If you are interested email: swingjunction1@gmail.com

October Class Introduction to Swing II

For the month of October we are offering Intro to Swing II. We will continue with the concepts from Intro to Swing I, however, taking the first class is not required before this one. Triple steps, the Charleston and the technique needed to make the dance work will be a focus for this class.

When: Wednesdays in October, first class Oct 6

18th - ISU Swing Workshop taught by SLC instructors Shane and Julie
Shurtliff. Location: ISU Student Union Building (Woodriver Rooms)
2-5pm - 3 classes, no partner or dance experience necessary. Cost $12

5th, Tuesday -Eastern Idaho Jazz Society Jam Session,the Cellar 7pm
**The jam sessions have been playing a lot of danceable jazz the last few months. This a great event for beginners to try out their dancing basic, as the restaurant isn't too crowded that night. Great for more experienced dancers also!**

13th-17th - Sun Valley Jazz Festival. There are tons of bands to dance to at this event with dance floors at almost all the venues. All weekend and day passes available. More info: sunvalleyjazz.com

Introduction to Swing Dancing Class

Rick and I are still in the area trying to get things going in Idaho Falls. There are lots of live jazz bands playing out this summer.

By request, we are holding a basic swing class during the month of August. Class will be held Thursdays 7-8 pm at the IF School of Ballet building (where our dance used to be held). We will be covering 6 count basic swing and well as some charleston and of course the technique needed to make the dance happen. The class is taught as a four week series and the cost is $32/person. ($8/class) Our first class is coming up on Thursday, August 5th. Email us at: swingjunction1@gmail.com if you are interested.

Upcoming: There will be swing dance workshops in the fall down in Pocatello and up in Rexburg - more info to follow. Also, during the fall we will be teaching another series in the swing dance called Balboa.
