Introduction to Swing Dancing Class

Rick and I are still in the area trying to get things going in Idaho Falls. There are lots of live jazz bands playing out this summer.

By request, we are holding a basic swing class during the month of August. Class will be held Thursdays 7-8 pm at the IF School of Ballet building (where our dance used to be held). We will be covering 6 count basic swing and well as some charleston and of course the technique needed to make the dance happen. The class is taught as a four week series and the cost is $32/person. Upcoming: There will be swing dance workshops in the fall down in Pocatello and up in Rexburg - more info to follow. Also, during the fall we will be teaching another series in the swing dance called Balboa.

No Dance Oct 30th - Halloween Weekend

Rick and I have started teaching the six week charleston series. We also had a fun time teaching a workshop down at Idaho State University in Pocatello this past weekend. Thanks Robert for having us come down!

Due to Halloween celebrations we are going to cancel our dance on Friday, October 30th. Our next dance is Friday, November 6th.

Charleston 6 weeks series and more...

Last Saturday evening, a bunch of us supported the Idaho Falls Symphony Jazz Band at Freeman Park. This band played some great swing tunes for us to dance to. KIDK Channel 3 news was there and we were on the news dancing away in the park.

We're starting our next 6 week class series on the Charleston on Friday, October 9th. The details are listed on the right side of the blog. If you have any questions feel free let me know.

Rick and I will also be teaching a day workshop in October at Idaho State University in Pocatello. The details for that event will follow soon!

Live Music :-) The Mike Banks Quartet is playing this Saturday evening, September 19th, at the Cellar. The band usually starts to play at 7:15.

No Dance Friday, September 4th --Labor Day Weekend

We've had a really good crowd the last few weeks. Our dance is on for this Friday, Aug 28th as normally scheduled, but there will be no dance next Friday during the Labor Day Weekend. Rick and I are off to Swing Out New Hampshire. It's a great event and we're happy to be attending again this year. The atmosphere at this event is amazing and it's a workshop weekend I look forward to every year. If you are curious about it this is the web site for SONH.
