Dances are Running, Swing Junction is Not

 Hello all!  This will be our last post for a while.  We are no longer running the dance, but other people are!  The details have changed…

7:30-8pm   There is a basic lesson (swing or possibly ballroom based)

8-10pm  The amazing Jazz House Big Band is still playing every month! It’s great dancing to a live big band on a great floor.

Cost is now $7/person or $12/couple

Swing Junction Dances are Cancelled

Unfortunately, we are no longer going to be able to run Swing Junction at this time due to unforeseen circumstances.  

There are other individuals looking to start their own dance with the big band in the future.  

I will be posting any details as I have them.

Hello everyone!
We hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe.  Just another update, our dance will continue to be on hold until August.  We will evaluate the situation at that time and decide when we can bring our dance back safely.

DANCES ARE ON HOLD

Due to the need for "social distancing" with the coronavirus, we will be temporarily putting our dance on hold.  There will be no dance on April 4th and we will be posting again to update for the May 2nd dance.  We want our dance community and our big band members to stay safe and healthy.

Hot Club of Cowtown

Hot Club of Cowtown are coming this Monday, January 27th to the Carr Gallery in Idaho Falls.  This band is described as a western swing-gypsy jazz trio and they were tons of fun to dance to last time they were here.  For more information:  http://www.idahofallsarts.org/hot-club-of-cowtown

Rail City Jazz Plays in Pocatello this Saturday, January 11th!

Here comes another swing dance with Rail City Jazz.  We're all hoping this becomes a regular monthly event to attend for dancing!  **This is a 21+ event due to its location**

These are the details:
Location: The Union Taproom, 230 W. Bonneville Street, Pocatello, ID 83204
Time: Lesson 7-7:30 with Brita and Jonathan
          Dance 7:30-10pm
Cost: $15/person (includes lesson and the dance and a choice of unlimited soft drinks/one well drink/ one glass of house wine)  Bar food available also.

First Dance of 2020!

Come join us for our first monthly dance of the New Year!  The Jazz House Big Band will be playing for us on Saturday, January 4th.  

We had a great finish to 2019.  Ninety people attended our five year anniversary dance in November and Cruze Control had some fun songs for us to dance to in December.

Other upcoming events include Pocatello's Dance with Rail City Jazz at The Union Taproom on Saturday, January 11th.  This is a 21+ event and costs $15/person.  The cost includes a choice of unlimited soft drinks, one free well drink or one house glass of wine.  Brita and Jonathan will teach an intro lesson 7-7:30pm and dance to the band 7:30-10pm.

Six Week Swing Dance Lesson Series

Coming up in February is our next dance series!!!
Classes will take place on Fridays in February into March.
This class will be building on dance moves and technique weekly to increase your knowledge on the dance floor.

Here are the details:

This will be a six week class series held on Friday evenings. (Feb 1, 8, 15, 22 and Mar 1 and 8)

Time: 7:00-8:00pm

Cost:  $54/person or $100/couple

Four Year Anniversary Dance!!!

Saturday, November 3rd celebrates four years of Swing Junction's monthly big band dance.  This dance wouldn't be possible without the time and talent of the Jazz House Big Band.  It's amazing to be able to swing dance to a live big band every month.

Thank you also to all our volunteers, especially the Hassel Family.  They help us keep the dances running smoothly.

We hope to see you on November 3rd.  There will be fun door giveaways to celebrate our anniversary!

It's fall already!  Thank you to everyone who supported our dance over the summer.  It was a great time.  Our four year anniversary is approaching in November.  The next big band is Saturday, October 6th with the Jazz House Big Band!

Thanks to everyone who came out to dance in Idaho Falls Saturday night.  It was a little toasty with over 70 people but we had a great time! Thanks to The Jazz House Big Band for the fantastic music.

This Friday, July 13th is Pocatello's swing dance with Rail City Jazz.  This is a new event for dancing to live music!  Rail City Jazz is playing for THREE hours of dancing at The Bridge Restaurant (The Depot side) in Pocatello.  The event is 7-10pm.  

Cover is $15/dancer and includes unlimited soda OR one wine/beer/well drink.  Age requirement of 21+ for this event.  If you dine at the restaurant beforehand, the dance is complimentary.

Next Monthly Big Band Dance is Saturday, July 7th!!!

Skyline High School Fundraiser Saturday, February 24th!!!

We had a another great dance last month.  Our next monthly dance is Saturday, March 3rd.  Another upcoming event on Saturday, February 24th is Skyline High School's Annual Fundraiser.  Both the Jazz House Big Band and the Skyline High School Jazz Band play for this event.
